# Export your data

> Download your journal as Markdown.

You can export your journal data for safekeeping or moving elsewhere.

## Export journal

1. Open **Settings**.
2. Choose **Export** (wording may be "Export journal" or similar).
3. Download the Markdown zip when it is ready.

The export is for you. Keep the file somewhere private.

## What is included
